About Us

The Rose and Shamrock Village Inn is a lovely old world English/Irish Freehouse nestled in the heart of the village at Havelock North.

Full to the brim and over the top with curios and collectables gathered from near and far, this lovely Village Pub has elegance, character and old world charm. Built in 1996 and owned and operated by the Mair Family since 1998 it has been a huge part of Village life for the locals, and a great pit stop for visitors on the tourist wine or Art Deco trail.

Pouring Hawke’s Bays most extensive range of local and imported beers, ales, stouts and ciders on tap, 26 in all, it’s no wonder this pub is so popular! When it comes to food it’s traditional, very traditional! We believe in great affordable Pub Grub, the kind of meals people love and want to come back to have again and again, no body does Crumbed Beef Schnitzel like we do! In fact suppliers want to know our recipe…but that remains a closely guarded secret! It’s important to us to respect our locals, they love our menu so much that we have hardly changed it in 12 years! Our chefs do a great job with daily seasonal black board specials which are made from local produce, to satisfy customers who would like something different, we like to say you can see the food not the plate!!!!

The building it self was modeled on pubs in England and Ireland, the idea was brought back here, the land was purchased and the Rose for England and Shamrock for Ireland was born, and we’ve never looked back.

At the end of the day we are an English and Irish pub, that does great un-pretentious simple satisfying pub grub, however choosing what to drink with your meal could take some time!!

Proud to say….No gaming machines….No big screens…
